[Rfdump] Hardware - is it worth buing ?

Hi !
i just got a simple question :
Can You help me with the hardware :
I found a RFID reader/writer but it seems too cheap  
(http://www.rfidshop.com/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=1067).  I  
am a noob in that area - I know that there are many standards and this  
device is one standard only.
Can You tell me if it is worth investigating how to change the  
interface from the Springboard socket to PCMCIA or CF and find some  
drivers for that. I am trying to start playing with the RFID but I  
don't want to spend 200 euro on it - I just don't want to buy any  
useless crap.
